ADOPTION INFORMATION >>

We anticipate our next litter to be born in December 2017 and ready to go to their forever homes eight weeks later!

Please Note: Great Pyrenees are not "subdivision dogs." They are working dogs who need a farm, ranch or multiple acres of land to call home. They will not adapt well to any other home situation. They instinctively remain alert at night and often bark during those hours to ward off potential predators to your livestock or other family pets.

Both parents of the litter are our family pets and are under the care of our family veterinarian. We consider all of our puppies to be well socialized by time of adoption, having daily interaction with the members of our family.

Visits to our home are by appointment only after the puppies are eligible for pick up.  Please visit the contact page or call us (470-465-0063) to set up an appointment in 2018.

Adoption Fees For Upcoming December 2017 Litter:

  • $750 ($850.00 after December 15, 2017)

  • You may reserve your puppy or place in the "picking order" today by placing a deposit through our "Deposits" page.

  • We incur significant additional costs due to required vaccinations and multiple veterinarian visits after 9 weeks of age. Therefore, we are forced to adjust adoption fees after 9 weeks to accomodate those additional expenses.

  • *All prices are based on the puppy being sold as AKC registerable with limited registration (no breeding rights). Please visit akc.org for information on the American Kennel Club's explanation of "limited registration" or "limited breeding rights."

  • **Full breeding rights may be negotiated under certain circumstances for an additional fee. Please contact us for additional information if you are interested in having full AKC breeding rights.

  • **Please note that special payment arrangements may be possible if needed to help you get the puppy you want. Please contact us today for more information.

Payments: Please send deposits and adoption fees via PayPal to: DociaMtnFarms@gmail.com

  • Why pay through PayPal? PayPal offers a safe and convenient way for you to make your deposits and payments. Furthermore, PayPal provides a level of buyer protection for you that is not available through any other method; giving you peace of mind when making such a large purchase. For more information on PayPal's buyer protections, please click here.

  • Please note:

    • Our PayPal account is listed under the name "Docia Mountain Farms."

    • You do NOT need a personal PayPal account to send your payment. Setting up a PayPal account at the time of payment is optional.

Early payment in full helps us defray the significant upfront costs we incur in the first few weeks of having a litter (veterinarian costs, food, basic supplies, etc.). As a result, our out of pocket expenses are reduced; so as a gesture of appreciation we gladly lower the adoption fee for those individuals who are able to fully pay in advance (see "Deposits" page. However, a $200 deposit can hold a puppy and/or your place in line to select the puppy of your choice. Those who pay a deposit or adoption fee first will have first choice of the litter. When you make a deposit or payment, you will be notified as to your exact place in line (first choice, second choice, etc.). Please Note: Deposits and adoption fees are non-refundable except in the event of the death of a puppy prior to adoption. In such a case, your deposit or adoption fee would be returned to you in full within 30 days. PLEASE DO NOT PLACE A DEPOSIT OR PAYMENT WITH US UNLESS THIS POLICY IS FULLY AGREEABLE TO YOU.  For your security and protection, deposits and payments can be made through PayPal to DociaMtnFarms@USA.com. All puppies will be current on all vaccinations at the time of pickup or delivery.

Shipping/Delivery:

In some cases, we may be able to deliver your puppy to you for an additional fee (must pay full adoption fee + delivery fee in advance) based on the distance (according to Google Maps) from Dahlonega, Georgia to your area. The current delivery fee is as follows:

0 - 200 miles = FREE

Over 200 miles = $1.00 per mile

Please Note: Due to the uncertainty of puppies arriving safe and healthy when shipped by airlines, we do not ship puppies for any reason (only through personal delivery by us).

At the time of adoption, you will be supplied with an AKC registration application and the required documents for either limited or full registration. You will then be able to name and register your new puppy with any name you choose. In addition, we will provide you with a written bill of sale, a Puppy Passport (shot record and veterinary examination report), and an AKC folder with puppy Information. We recommend that you have a professional veterinarian complete a thorough health-check of your new puppy within 48 hours of adoption to verify the good health of your new dog.

We will only accept a return of your puppy with a full refund of the adoption fee (not any associated delivery fees) IF you provide a written explanation from a professional veterinarian (within 5 days of taking ownership of the puppy) stating the puppy has a major health problem that would prohibit it from having a normal healthy lifespan. Please note: we will not pay for this examination or any other veterinary expenses after the puppy leaves our farm upon initial sale under any circumstance.

We recommend that you bring an acceptable pet carrier with you to take your newly adopted puppy home. We do not ship puppies, but we may be able to personally deliver your puppy to you in some situations (please email or call to discuss).

Spays & neuters on giant breed dogs such as the Great Pyrenees should be postponed until 1 year of age to allow time for proper bone growth. Females will generally come in heat at 10-12 months. Care should be taken to note her vulva size, as early spay can also lead to a recessed vulva and a variety of health problems.

Selecting a "Runt:"

Many people are afraid to choose smaller puppies in a litter, thinking that the smallest one may have some sort of growth or genetic problem. This is generally not true in most circumstances. Such problems are usually detected during the early veterinary physical exams we provide the puppy.

Gestation:

Females are in heat for about 2 to 3 weeks, and as such they are fertile during the middle part of the cycle. However, they will ovulate throughout the fertile part of the cycle, which is approximately 10 days. If breeding occurs repeatedly during this time, the puppies may be conceived at different times; resulting in as much as 10 days difference in the actual age of the puppies at the time of birth. The most important thing to note is that the puppies are all growing at a normal and consistent rate.

Returning Your Dog:

If you should ever need to find another home for your Great Pyrenees dog, we will take it back with no refund, and seek to find a new home for it. Please contact us as soon as possible to discuss the reason for returning your dog. Advance notice is required so that we can make the necessary arrangements for the return of your dog.
